What is ‘War’?

War, or Casino War, is a casino card game which involves playing against the dealer to beat their card. Players win if their card has a higher value than the dealer’s own card, with aces high in almost all versions. The game uses six standard card decks with one card drawn for each player. Multiple players can join the game, and each plays individually against the dealer in this scenario. Casino war is based on the card game war, and is available in some physical casinos and many online casinos.

‘War’ Explained

War is a very simple casino card game which is great for beginners and which can also be played in home games. It is available at casino tables and also through online casinos. To play war, players go head-to-head with the dealer in straight draws of one card each. The player’s aim is to have a higher card than the dealer. If the player’s card has a higher value, they win their wager. If the dealer’s card is higher, the player loses the money.

In war, a tie could occur where the player and dealer’s card matches. This is where the player has the chance to ‘go to war’ with the dealer. The stake is either surrendered for a return of half value, or a challenge is made and the player goes for double or nothing by adding a second stake. Another card each is dealt, but this time the player hopes for a tie with the dealer. A higher card pays on the original wager, a lower card loses, but a tie card pays the doubled wager’s value. As well as this standard play, players can choose to bet on making the second tie as a side wager to the game. This usually pays 10 to 1 on the original wager if the result comes up.
