Sheldon Adelson was born in Boston in 1933 and he entered the world of business aged just 12, after receiving a small loan from his uncle. Adelson went on to purchase the famed Sands Hotel and Casino, which was eventually remodelled as the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino – under which name it still operates today.
