What is ‘90 Ball’?
90 Ball refers to 90 Ball Bingo which is one of the most popular bingo games. Unsurprisingly, it is called 90 Ball because the game features 90 bingo balls. At the start of the game, players are given a ticket which will feature a grid. The 27-square grid has three rows and nine columns, with every row containing five numbers along with four blank squares. A total of fifteen numbers are on each ticket. Players will usually have a ‘strip’, which is a group of six tickets, meaning that they are guaranteed to have every number (1-90) on a full strip.
‘90 Ball’ Explained
Once the game is underway, the rules are fairly straightforward. If the bingo caller calls out a number that is featured on a player’s ticket, they mark the number off with the aim of winning a prize. The prizes and jackpots vary in each and every bingo game; usually, if a game is popular, it means that the jackpot will be higher.
90 Ball Bingo has three prizes on offer, a player can win if they complete one line as well as two lines, they can also win House or Bingo. The first player who manages to make a horizontal line on their ticket by marking off called numbers will win the one-line prize. In order to scoop the two-line prize, a player must complete two horizontal lines on the same ticket. If a player wins the House or Bingo prize, that means they have marked off all of their numbers on a single ticket.
One of the biggest bingo wins ever came in 2008 when Soraya Lowell managed to win a huge £1.2 million whilst playing 90 Ball Bingo. Playing at a bingo hall in Lanarkshire, Scotland, Soraya won the jackpot on the final ball called, which happened to be 90 or ‘top of the shop’.
