What is ‘75 Ball’?
75 Ball, or more commonly 75 ball bingo, is sometimes known as American bingo due to it being played most often in the US. The name relates to the number of bingo balls in the game, and therefore to the range of numbers on the bingo ticket. Tickets usually contain a 5×5 grid with one free space marked in the middle. Players match the numbers called to those on the ticket and win prizes if they are the first to complete a particular pattern on the card.
‘75 Ball’ Explained
In 75 Ball bingo games, players are aiming to match numbers on their bingo ticket to numbers called in the game. As the name suggests, there are 75 balls in the game, and these are called randomly one at a time. Players mark off the number if it appears on their ticket. Completing numbers in a certain order or making a set pattern on the ticket will result in a win – so long as the player is the first to do so!
Tickets for play consist of a 25-square grid, set out as 5×5. The centre square is often blank or already marked, so there are 24 numbers on the ticket in total. The numbers on the card are randomly generated and range between 1 and 75. As the numbers are called, players match them off and if they make the exact pattern as stated by the game rules, they win a prize. The most common patterns to complete are lines or rows, followed by two lines and then all numbers full house. However, there is an almost limitless range of possible patterns, each set by the bingo operator. Players might be required to match shapes, letters and numbers, hit all four corners, make the inside square or complete some other design.
