European Gaming and Betting Association Explained
The European Gaming and Betting Association is the largest official trade organization representing the gambling industry within the European Union. The EGBA consists of seven members who are gambling operators, and a further three members who represent national trade organizations within the EU.
Among the most notable partners of the EGBA are GVC Holdings Ltd, bet365 and the Kindred Group, which operates brands including Unibet. Members must agree to the Association’s terms and conditions, and must agree to abide by those rules at all times.
The EGBA acts in a regulatory capacity, ensuring that its member associations are complying with gambling safety protocols and supporting their players effectively. The group organizes annual awareness campaign Responsible Gaming Day, and funds campaigns associated with sports betting and game integrity.
It also tabled the ‘Responsible Remote Gambling Measures’ workshop agreement which encourages gambling operators to introduce their own evidence based self-regulatory control measures where existing regulation is seen to be lacking.
The group is headquartered in Brussels and it works closely with European Union lawmakers to ensure gambling remains fair, safe and profitable. As well as representing players through safety measures and operator regulation, the EGBA supports the industry by promoting regulated gambling as a better alternative to taking risks unlicensed operators. It promotes betting services and works with other industries to ensure that gambling is fairly represented as a popular and highly lucrative industry sector.
