What is a Cash Out Button?
A cash out button is an option available to online bettors while a wager is still active. When clicked, it pays out the bet at the live rate being offered – allowing a player to skip out on their bet before it has the chance to be lost. Cash out features are now offered by most online bookmakers, often through a mobile app or website. If a bet is winning and the player wants to claim their prize early, or if a bet looks set to lose and ruin an accumulator, hitting the cash out button can ensure a profit is made.
Cash Out Button Explained
The ‘cash out button’ is a relatively new feature of online sports betting, which allows customers to bet on live sports markets while games are in progress. Pressing the cash out button on an active bet pays that bet instantly at the rate being offered. While players might sacrifice the chance of a bigger win and lose a slightly larger margin to the bookmaker, they get to avoid the chance of a bet being lost entirely, or they can access funds from a winning bet quickly in order to place that money on a different outcome.
The growth of mobile internet use and the development of mobile apps has allowed betting markets to play out in real time. Gamblers watching a race or match can place a bet in seconds using their mobile or computer. This means there is more demand for live odds and in-game betting. For example, gamblers now like to bet on the next goal scorer in a game, or on the time of the next goal. Accumulator bets are still popular, with players making multiple selections in the hope of a larger payoff. Using the cash out button allows players to be more flexible in how they bet, and customize their bets according to how the match or race is going.
However, cash out buttons are subject to availability at any given time. If a market changes drastically, cash out options might be suspended until play settles down again. The cash out button will be shown whenever the option is open to the player, along with a cash offer for that cash out selection. Some bookmakers include a slider so players can cash out a portion of their bet, and leave the rest to play out.
