Cash Bet

What is a Cash Bet?

A ‘cash bet’ is a paid bet, as opposed to a free bet or a bonus bet. The majority of wagers placed on any type of gambling game are cash bets. Bets made in casinos using chips might also be called cash bets, as the chips represent a player’s cash reserves. In online gambling, ‘cash bets’ are separate from bets made with bonus funds or awarded as free plays.

Cash Bet Explained

Players who make a cash bet stake money against an outcome for the chance of a higher return on that original stake. Cash bets are paid for bets, representing the most common kind of wager, and they occur in all kinds of games – from sports betting to roulette and slot games. In the casino, players might exchange their cash for chips, but these chips still represent cash and can be exchanged back at the end of the play session.

Cash bets differ from free bets, which are chances for the player to wager without risking any money. Free bets are common online, where they are offered as welcome promotions for new players or as loyalty rewards for regular players. They might also be won during play, such as free spins during slots. Players can win cash from these bets, but do not have to pay for the chance to win.

Cash bets also differ from material bets, where players wager goods or assets in place of cash. This is not permitted in casinos, but might happen in a high-end home game, with players staking vehicles and even property in some cases. Online casino players sometimes have two separate balances – their cash fund and their bonus fund – and only bets from the cash fund qualify as true cash bets.

Wins made using a bonus balance could be subject to withdrawal conditions such as wagering requirements, while cash balances can usually be withdrawn in their entirety if the player chooses.
