What is the ‘American Gaming Association Code of Conduct’?
The American Gaming Association (AGA) Code of Conduct is a set of guidelines which all AGA members are expected to follow. The code was created in 2003 and is regularly updated to ensure that gaming standards remain at a high level.
The code aims to enforce responsible gaming among operators and protect industry employees and customers, as well as keeping the general public safe and ensuring the industry operates according to the law.
‘American Gaming Association Code of Conduct’ Explained
The American Gaming Association is a trade association for the gambling industry in the United States, and it provides support to the industry in terms of regulatory compliance while holding operators to account over breaches of legal or public safety matters.
Membership of the AGA is voluntary, though operators who sign up as members are generally judged to be safer and more reliable by consumers. Leading international gaming brands including MGM Resorts, Paddy Power Betfair, Caesars Entertainment and GVC Holdings all have membership status with the AGA.
All of the association’s members are expected to agree to and follow the American Gaming Association Code of Conduct – a set of guidelines which lay out commitments to financial obligations, responsible gaming policies, player protections and adherence to the law. These rules must be followed by all members, and any deviation could be met with fines, a suspension of membership or even a permanent ban from the association. Only operators who have agreed to follow the Code of Conduct may display the AGA logo.
The Code of Conduct is regularly updated to reflect current gaming trends and to ensure players have the safest possible experience – both online and offline.The most recent change to the AGA Code was made in August 2017, adapting its terms to cover online and mobile gambling as well as traditional land based gambling.
