Pokerstars.com, the world’s largest online cardroom, has announced that it is bringing its successful Spin and Go format to Omaha poker games.

And, doubling up on the new offers, those games will also be offering players a qualification chance into a SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker) event with a $1,000,000+ prize pot.

Popular with players

The company, part of the larger Amaya Inc, said in a press release that it expected the move to prove popular with players on its platform; and that bringing the Spin and Go format to Omaha online poker games was actually one of the most requested features from its users.

Winners of the Omaha Spin and Go games on the website will be offered the opportunity to take part in the company’s SCOOP Event 5: Pot Limit Omaha tournament.

This contest, to be held on May 7, features a prize pot in excess of one million dollars split across high, medium, and low events.

Pokerstars.com’s Omaha Spin and Go games will offer stakes from $1 to $15; while the SCOOP qualifying tournament will have a $5 initial stake. Players in the qualifying tournament will win either a $10 prize or a seat in one of the high ($2,100), medium ($215), or low ($27) games of the main tournament.

Omaha poker, and Spin and Go

Omaha is a popular poker variant, in which players are each dealt a four card hand. They must then attempt to create a winning hand using two of their cards plus three community cards.

Spin and Go games are fast-paced and feature no more than three players. Each player begins with a 500 chip starting stack, and the tournament has a prize pool which, drawn at random, will award between 2 and 10,000 times the players’ initial stake.

OUR VERDICT

What’s particularly interesting about this story is its player focus. Pokerstars has readily noted that the introduction of the Spin and Go format was a direct response to player requests, which is a real positive. It’s always refreshing to see brands giving customers what they want – it means that as players, and as online casino fans your voices are being heard. And if there’s the chance to win at the same time, then that’s an added bonus. Spin and Go itself is also a great addition for poker fans. It’s fast-paced and action packed, making for an exciting and new online experience.
