It’s a quest for fun! National Lampoon’s Vacation reborn as casino slot

  • Chevy Chase comedy classic brought to the slot world
  • Features include memorable scenes from the 1983 movie

Players old enough to recall National Lampoon’s Vacation will be delighted and surprised to learn that it’s making a comeback, of sorts.

The 80s road comedy is getting the video slot treatment and appears set to show up at real world casinos as a terminal-based game.

All of the primary characters from the movie have been reborn for the slot conversion which has been enhanced with the addition of a tilted 42” playing screen plus a similar sized display in landscape and a bonus wheel positioned between them.

All the stars are there

The game comes packed with bonuses and features plucked from the 1983 movie that starred Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid. At the time, the film was a smash hit, taking in $60 million in the US and earning positive reviews across the board.

The franchise has lived on, birthing four sequels, the most recent of which, Vacation, was released in 2015 as a reboot and continuation of the franchise.

Now, fans of the original and best National Lampoon (and the 46th best comedy of all time according to Total Film), can get their teeth into Scientific Games’ video slot conversion.

The experienced developer has handled a number of licensed projects in the past based around major movies, and with National Lampoon’s Vacation they’ve clearly gone to great lengths to capture the spirit of the original feel-good comedy.

What features does it have?

Players can pick up coins via the Wheel Bonus, claim a 2x multiplier that will kick-start Walley World Free Spins and collect The Griswold Family Vacation Bonus. Here, players will be able to choose from six bonus games with names such as the Vibrating Bed Bonus, Skinny Dipping Bonus, Jump the Rail Bonus and Auto Bonus.

The inspiration for these scenes will be only too familiar to anyone who’s seen the movie.

It’s uncertain at this stage whether National Lampoon’s Vacation will also be released as an online slot for the benefit of web-based players.

The game seems tailor-made for an online casino audience, following in the footsteps of Naked Gun, which was also recently given the video slot treatment. As it stands though, it seems that players will need to venture to a land-based casino to experience this zany 40-payline slot.

The release comes hot on the heels of the Anchorman slot, and the highly anticipated Simpsons slot – both by developers at Scientific Games.
