- Hard Rock set to transform former Trump Taj Mahal casino, including new cafe
- Brand reported to introduce poolside gaming, sports arena and waterpark at casino
Hard Rock will open a new café in the freshly remodelled former Trump Taj Mahal casino when its doors eventually open next summer.
Hard Rock bought the Atlantic City gaming venue, formerly owned by President Donald Trump, and is currently in the process of undertaking a multimillion dollar transformation of the casino.
New cafe opening
The project will include the opening of a new Hard Rock café located inside the casino venue, which will however mean the closing of the current café on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
The casino operator said that operations at the current café will cease on September 30, with work beginning on the construction of the new café shortly after.
The café, which will open at around the same time as the casino itself, is set to employ over 100 people and will be larger than the current one.
Re-opening under Hard Rock brand
Hard Rock bought the formerly shuttered Trump Taj Mahal casino from billionaire Carl Ichan. The venue was recently cleared of all items which belonged to the casino in a liquidation sale, with bargain hunters able to secure several items for a low price as Hard Rock looked to get work underway as soon as possible.
The 1,250 room casino resort is likely to undergo several changes before it opens under the Hard Rock brand, including possible poolside gaming, two large sports arenas and a large waterpark.
The casino, when known as Trump Taj Mahal did experience financial problems that eventually led to the casino being shuttered. However Hard Rock’s continued expansion into the casino market included the purchasing of the once popular Atlantic City venue and the operator is hoping that the re-location of their Atlantic City café will attract more tourism to their new venue.
