- 151,000 ton ocean liner accommodates 3,400 passengers and 2,300 crew members
- The World Dream is the sister vessel of Genting Dream, launched last November
Genting Casino’s 151,000 ton ocean liner named the World Dream is ready to launch and will add significant competition to Asia’s casino market.
The 18-story boat was released from the shipyard in Germany where it was constructed in late August, from where it travelled down the River Ems and into the North Sea where it will undergo open-water trials.
It will then sail across the globe to its home ports of Hong Kong and Nansha, Guangzhou in the Pearl River Delta.
The ship, which was built for Genting Hong Kong, will make its maiden voyage from the territory on November 17 and its first voyage from Nansha two days later.
Integrated casino resort
The World Dream has been designed to be a high-end integrated casino resort, like its sister vessel, the Genting Dream, launched in November 2016.
The ship’s itinerary will include a number of Southeast Asia’s gaming centres including both Boracay and Manila in the Philippines, Ho Chi Minh and Nha Trang in Vietnam, and trips around the Pearl River Delta.
The ship is able to accommodate 3,400 passengers and 2,030 crew members, and offers dozens of amenities, including restaurants, bars, waterslides and a large onboard casino area; where players will be able to enjoy slots and all their favourite table games.
Genting has considerable experience in cruise ship operations, having run its Star Cruises fleet for over two decades and is one of the world’s top three cruise liners.
Dream Cruises was launched in 2016, and conceived as a luxury cruise line designed specifically to cater for the Asian market, offering luxury high-end facilities.
The World Dream will incorporate an exclusive VIP and high roller area that includes spacious accommodation, garden penthouses, private decks and even a fleet of butlers.
Speaking about the launch of the new vessel, the President of Genting Hong Kong, Kent Zhu, explained the role that the World Dream will play in the company’s operations:
“We are excited to welcome World Dream at her homeports in Hong Kong and Nansha this November to further grow the Pearl River Delta as a cruise centre and increase the FlyCruise market in this part of Asia.” Kent Zhu
