- Evolution Gaming to launch largest online live casino progressive jackpot
- Jackpot prize fund starts off with €1 million pot ($1.1 million)
The ‘biggest ever’ progressive jackpot tied to a live casino is about to be launched.
Evolution Gaming, a leader in providing live casinos, has announced The Jumbo 7 Jackpot will soon be fully integrated with its Casino Hold’Em poker game and will launch with a jackpot of €1 million ($1.1 million).
Evolution Gaming will be funding the entire initial jackpot and claims this is the biggest ever progressive in a live casino set up.
Live casinos allow players of online casinos to play table games with a live dealer streamed to their computer or mobile device.
The progressive jackpot and how to win it
To qualify for the Jumbo 7 Jackpot players have to place a side bet on it.
A percentage of each and every side bet placed by those playing the Jumbo 7 Jackpot will be added to the collective prize fund. There are two ways of winning: there’s a range of fixed payout prizes players can win by getting certain poker hands and there’s the top prize, which claims all of the prize fund. To win this, players need a seven card straight flush.
It will be up to online casinos themselves whether to offer the side bet to players. The progressive jackpot element is set to roll out over the next few weeks, although it has not been confirmed which online casinos are going to offer the side bets.
Evolution not revolution
Evolution Gaming’s chief product officer, Todd Haushalter said: “By Evolution contributing the whole €1 million to start the jackpot, it is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to operators and players.
“With the player volumes we see on Casino Hold’em this could potentially grow to be bigger than all of the online progressive slots combined. That means it could grow to in excess of €30 million, which will put it in contention to be the biggest jackpot in the history of table games or slots.
“That sort of money makes playing the game a lot more fun, and that is our mission with this Jackpot version of Casino Hold’em.”
You can only applaud the ambition of Evolution with this launch. Todd Haushalter’s claim that it could grow to be bigger than all progressive jackpots combined, table and slot games, is certainly bold.
It is nothing new to have progressive jackpots on table games in bricks and mortar casinos, but this adds a new dimension to the live casino set up.
If land-based casinos are anything to go by, the potential is very large indeed.
