The Great Ming Empire is another Playtech slot inspired by Chinese history and folklore. Like the Fei Long Zai Tian slot released in the same year, the Great Ming Empire features more controls for the user but with fewer paylines to bet on. And despite being a newer addition to the Playtech catalogue, the Great Ming Empire is only available to desktop players, for the time being.
Look and feel
The Great Ming Empire is a 5-reel slot game with three rows and five active paylines. Inspired by one of the most famous and stable ruling dynasties of China, The Great Ming Empire slot is filled with memorabilia from the dynasty and matching audio that complements the theme. The reels are built in a frame resembling a palace from the Ming era and set against a background of the Great Wall of China.
The Palace Wild is the highest paying symbol in the game, followed by the Emperor himself and then the Empress and the Boat as the mid-paying symbols. The lowest-paying combinations are won by the 4 card rank symbols which were given a more traditional makeover to fit the theme and context.
The Great Ming Empire is a mid-variance game where the paylines aren’t fixed and can be activated and deactivated at players’ will. The minimum you can bet on each payline is £0.01, which is also the minimum bet size in the game, while the maximum you can bet per payline is £100, or £500 for all 5 paylines. The estimated Return to Player (RTP) percentage of this slot is 96.15%.
The Great Ming Empire features two types of bonus symbols: the Palace Wild and the 3 Scatters representing ornaments from the Ming dynasty. The Wild symbol is a bit different here as it can only substitute for the two highest paying symbols in the game (Emperor and Empress). It can also pay out 2,000x if you collect 5 Wilds on your reels.
As for the Scatters, any combination of 3 or more scatters of the same kind will trigger the Treasure Room bonus feature. The Treasure Room is a game of pick-and-win where you’ll get to choose 3 out of 8 items in the room to unlock various cash prizes. And depending on the number of Scatters you’ve triggered the feature with you can also add a multiplier to those prizes.
Namely, unlocking the bonus with 3 Scatters will add a 1x multiplier to your wins. Unlocking the feature with 4 Scatters will get you a multiplier of 3x instead. And if you’re lucky enough to unlock the bonus round with 5 Scatters, you will get a multiplier of 10x.
