South Park: Reel Chaos is NetEnt’s eagerly anticipated sequel to the original South Park online slots.
With five reels and twenty fixed paylines of madcap antics, plus a whole range of bonus features, South Park: Reel Chaos is sure to appeal to fans of the show and the original slots property.
Look and Feel
South Park: Reel Chaos shares the iconic, simplistic paper cutout style of the TV show South Park upon which it is based, it’s a departure from the slick, modern 3D graphics of many NetEnt video slot games, but it does fit seamlessly with the show itself, as it should.
Compared to NetEnt’s original South Park slots, the look and feel of South Park: Reel Chaos is quite similar, but with some notable differences.
The interface and UI are darker, with a cleaner design, and the game has a more defined premise with a plot to follow in gameplay. This time, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman are fighting the evil General Disarray and Professor Chaos, so the superhero-themed stylings in the game fit very well.
The lower value symbols are alphanumeric, in that familiar South Park style font, while character portraits stand for the higher value symbols, this time featuring the four boys dressed as superheroes alongside the questionably heroic Mintberry Crunch (Bradley Biggle).
There is a lightbulb wild and the scatter symbol is a Mintberry Crunch portrait that appears on reels one, three, or five.
South Park: Reel Chaos has a minimum bet per spin of 20p and a ceiling per spin of £100 for twenty paylines.
Unlike the first NetEnt South Park tie-in, there are no fully featured mini games as such in this title, but the number of random bonuses keep the game feeling fresh and exciting, and form almost more of the gameplay than the standard spins.
As with NetEnt’s original South Park slots game, South Park: Reel Chaos features a number of bonuses, though there is perhaps not quite as much detail as in the full mini games of the previous release.
Again, each bonus is themed after a particular character. Stan generates a random respin on a non-winning spin, which will then automatically ensure a win. Each non-winning spin before the win increases the multiplier by one, up to a maximum 10x multiplier.
When Professor Chaos and General Disarray’s evil minions appear on the reels, there is a chance Kyle will zap them, creating extra wild symbols. Meanwhile, Kenny may fight Professor Chaos, which will result in a multiplier applied to the current winning spin.
If General Disarray appears at the top of the game screen, Cartman will create a series of stacked wilds to catch him, possibly up to two whole reels.
South Park: Reel Chaos is a fun and rewarding attention to South Park based licensed slots, and while some of the big-paying bonuses can be hard to trigger, the game has the potential to payout very well.
