Based on the cult movie of the same name, Psycho is NextGen Gaming’s take on the Alfred Hitchcock film, and it has been done with both style and class.
Psycho contains plenty of imagery from the film, although redesigned in a cartoony and less horrific fashion. As one of NextGen Gaming’s more popular slots, Psycho can be found across the online casino world.
Look and feel
Psycho has a cartoony look and feel to it. The game contains some of the more memorable aspects of the film, including birds, the spooky Bates Motel (which also doubles as its backdrop), the keys to room 1, and of course, Norman Bates – the Psycho killer – himself.
The slot machine has its jumpy moments, such as stabbing wilds, but is far tamer than the original motion picture ever was.
Psycho features a 5-reel, 25-line gaming platform, and although players are not able to later those paylines, they can adjust their line bets. Line bets range from 1p up to £2 in total, so players can expect to find a wagering range which extends upwards from 25p per spin to £50 per spin at its most expensive.
Psycho comes with a non-progressive jackpot. This non-progressive is pegged at roughly 2,500x your total bet. Given that Psycho has an RTP (return to player) rate of 95.57%, there are plenty of opportunities to bag cash prizes in this game.
Wild symbols take the appearance of a block of red text spelling “wild” so they are very difficult to miss. Wilds can substitute for all other symbols in NextGen Gaming’s Psycho slot machine, save for scatters.
It is important to note that at any point in the base game, wild wins may pick up random multiplier which could be worth as much as 20x the normal rate of pay. Wilds can also be stabbed onto the reels by a slashing hand holding a knife in true Hitchcock fashion.
Those scatters appear as the Bates Motel itself. Landing 3, 4 or 5 of these scatters in any position on the reels will dish out 10, 15 or 20 free games, respectively. Wild wins in the free spins bonus round could be multiplied by as much as 40x the going rate.
As you will notice, the free spins bonus is played during the famous shower scene in Psycho, so expect knives to add extra wilds to the reels often in this feature.
A gamble feature has also been worked into the design of Psycho, although it serves little real purpose save to offer the player the chance to double their winnings, with a 50% chance of success.
