|Symbols||Monty Python and the Holy Grail|
Arguably one of Playtech’s biggest and most loved progressive jackpot online slots, Monty Python’s Spamalot is based on the 2005 play by the same name, written by Eric Idle.
Eric Idle inspiration runs through this progressive jackpot game. The slot machine has been discontinued at many major online casino sites, in favour of its successor, Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Look and feel
Much of what made Monty Python’s Spamalot so successful has been ported over into the new Monty Python’s Holy Grail slot, but it all began with this game.
Various knights from the same film are present on the reels, and there is some cheeky audio, animation and comedy in the form of the bonus rounds which will really strike a chord with any Monty Python fan. If you love nuttiness, you’ll get it by the bucket load with this game.
If you can still get hold of it, this slot will cost you between 0.20 and 20.00 per spin. That’s fair, given that there is a massive progressive jackpot to win.
That is won by landing five jackpot icons on the reels. The game is played over 20 paylines, and they sit upon Playtech’s usual 5-reel gaming platform.
Paylines aren’t adjustable, but the wagering range should suffice players on all budgets. Even if you don’t win the progressive, there is a still a non-progressive jackpot worth 5,000 coins up for grabs here.
Wild symbols crop up in this game in the shape of the Holy Grail.
As usual, they can substitute for all symbols barring bonuses and scatters. Scatters can trigger a free spins bonus round when 3 or more show up, and bonus wilds can make the difference between a so-so win and a sizeable one.
The real comedy comes from this slot’s four acts – four individual bonuses, which are triggered by landing bonus icons on the first and fifth reels, and in sequence, one after the other.
Act 1 – Storm the Castle, allows players to move a knight around to dodge catapulted cows to pocket instant cash prizes until they are hit.
Act 2 – None Shall Pass, sees players able to do battle with the Black Knight. Lopping limbs off him can result in cash prizes.
Act 3 – Knights Who Say Ni, can see players select shrubbery to reveal cash prizes.
Act 4 – Killer Rabbit, must see players find a way to defeat a killer rabbit to win instant cash prizes, without losing their six knights in the process. It’s all very tongue-in-cheek stuff.
