Man of Steel is based on the first of the modern rebooted Superman movies, starring Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel. The game contains far more modern graphics and animations than its older Christopher Reeve counterparts, although to be fair, there is still quite an element about the old Playtech/Marvel slots about this game, too.
Look and feel
Man of Steel has been designed to look like the good old Marvel slots of old (even though this is a DC slot). Expect similar wagering menus and cheesy icons on the reels, and a trip down memory lane if you used to play Playtech’s former superhero slots. Fans of the series will get everything they desire from this game, whilst lovers of progressive jackpots are also treated to four of those.
As mentioned, there are four progressive jackpots in this game. These can only be won by the randomly triggered DC Super Heroes progressive jackpot bonus, whereby players must select from a series of tiles to win either the Mini, Minor, Major or Grand Jackpot prizes.
The game itself contains 5 reels and 25 paylines. Players cannot alter those paylines, and they are going to end up wagering a bit more than they might like in this game. Minimum stakes cost at least 50p per spin, whilst maximum stakes will set you back around £50 per spin. Why so costly? Wait until you see the special features.
There are two wild symbols for you to enjoy here. The first of these is Superman, whilst the second is General Zod. These can substitute for all symbols barring the two scatter icons to appear in this game. Scatter icons appear as Krypton and World Engine symbols. If you land wilds on the reels, they will make their way left or right (depending on the symbol) and if they meet, the Battle for Earth free spin bonus begins. In this, players can enjoy free spins with extra wilds.
Landing the Krypton bonus symbol on the fifth reel will activate a Krypton Free Spin bonus. In this feature, players will get to play with 7 free games over an extended 50-line format. Jor-El wilds can freeze in place during this feature. Meanwhile, players who land World Engine bonus icons on the fifth reel can trigger an explosion, which instantly bounces wilds on the reels resulting in more than respectable wins.
