Lost Island is an online slots game from Eyecon, featuring 5 reels, 3 rows, and 25 paylines, with stakes as low as 1p per line.
While its whimsical art style and simple features may not be as impressive as some recent platinum 3D and video slots titles, there’s still plenty on offer in this jungle-themed slots adventure.
Look and Feel
Lost Island is set on a volcanic tropical island dotted with the remnants of an ancient culture, where wild animals and hidden treasures alike can be found in the jungle.
The art style is simplistic and cartoony, and not really on a par with the standard many players have come to expect from modern online casino slots games, though it does what it sets out to do, and is clear and consistent.
Against the static background of a rocky jungle island, players will see twelve cartoon animals, plants, and symbols appearing on the game’s five reels.
The lower value symbols are represented by a pair of palm trees, an orchid, a gold mask, a pile of gold coins, and two different jungle idols, each netting between 100-125 coin maximum line wins.
A snake, butterfly, and tiger cover the 250-450 maximum payout band, and a parrot and curious monkey symbols are each worth up to 950 coins.
The most valuable symbol in the game, however, is the volcano, worth up to a huge 9500 coin win on 25 lines.
The volcano is also a substitute symbol, substituting for all symbols except the Scatter symbol, and doubling wins where it appears in a line win, while the scatter symbol itself is a brownish-orange totem mask, which triggers the free spins feature and offers up to a 2x multiplier on winnings.
Lost Island does not have a particularly immersive or engaging soundtrack. There are some generic drumming sounds but the sound effects are mostly the basic effects associated with reel spins and stings to announce wins or features. This simplicity isn’t too out of step with the rest of the game’s design, however.
Lost Island does not boast a particularly feature-packed UI and what is there is a little less than intuitive, with the rather dated looking “Bet Up,” “Bet Down,” “Line Up” and “Line Down” options that allow you to control your wager being hidden behind “Change Bet” and “Change Lines” options that require hovering to unlock. However, there are max bet, max lines, and auto play options.
Wins are based on the number of like symbols, so payouts are graduated but luck might bring a number of small wins, though you’ll need at least three Scatter symbols to unlock the 15 free spins the game offers.
Free games yield a 2x multiplier, though you cannot adjust your paylines or bet from what they were set to in the spin that triggered the free games.
It’s possible to retrigger free spins by landing more Scatter symbols, but only up to a maximum 15 times, which would give you a maximum of 240 possible spins on one bet.
Aside from the 2x multiplier and the possibility of unlocking free spins, Lost Island does not offer many bonus features, especially when compared to other Eyecon slots games which often include more varied bonuses, or the host of titles that offer progressive jackpots.
However, as a game that offers an easy play experience and a simple paytable, Lost Island does exactly what it sets out to do.
