When you’re in the mood for plundering, visit Goblin’s Cave where there’s a hoard of treasure and only a harmless old goblin in your way! This Playtech game is somewhat old school and has a three-reel setup, with very little in the way of settings, help and customisation. Try this game if you feel nostalgic or just want a no-frills flutter.
Look and Feel
Goblin’s Cave takes place, as you’d imagine, in a cave with a goblin. The background is piled high with gold coins and a treasure chest, while the reels are actually a rickety wooden frame operated by the goblin. This is no evil monster, but an old chap in a robe and slippers, wearing glasses This gives the game a casual, fun feel.
There’s a sound effect for the creaky reels but no background music, sadly. The goblin does let out a cheeky laugh if you get a win. You get a barebones experience with this game, but it has an old-school charm. The artwork is good, if simple, while the symbols represent various golden treasures.
This slot has the standard ability for you to change your bet size, but paylines are set at the classic three. You can increase coins per line to get bigger bets. The base game works on a holding mechanic. Your initial spin is only on the bottommost line. Then you get the choice to hold any, none or all of these symbols, before re-spinning. Held symbols stack across all three lines. The second spin activates all three lines and keeps anything you held.
This classic mechanic gives you a degree of choice and makes the game more engaging, with a little interactivity. The coins are the lowest paying symbol, while the crowns and the red gems are highest. The gems are wild so the game holds them automatically.
The minimum stake is 0.01 coins and the maximum is $5.
There is one bonus round in Goblin’s Cave, which is triggered by getting blue lanterns. Three lanterns on a payline take you to a standard random prize round, where you pick a treasure chest to see what’s inside.
There is a little more to this; if you land three lanterns on both the first and second lines, you get two bonus rounds. Get them on all three to play three times. It’s a simple setup but can lead to some big wins. This game is perfect if you’re new to slot and want to learn the ropes, or you just want a casual game without lots of noise and flashing animations.
