Playtech’s Desert Treasure online slot machine is one of their older progressive jackpot slots. Although it has since spawned a successful sequel, this slot still holds a special place in the hearts of many Playtech slot fans. Desert Treasure is based on Arabia, in particular, scouring the burning sands for the treasure of Egypt in a bid to win 10,000 coins in this five-reel, 20-line video slot.
Look and feel
Desert Treasure is unique in that it doesn’t centre too much of its imagery on Ancient Egypt. There are a wealth of those slots out there already, so playing Desert Treasure today is still quite refreshing.
The imagery which does appear on the reels of this slot includes a golden cobra, a princess, compass and maps, an Arabian trader, camels, oasis, and the traditional high playing card symbols. Wilds can see you win the non-progressive jackpot if five land on any active payline.
The large menu buttons make selecting stakes a doddle on the Desert Treasure slot. All 20 lines can be altered as players see fit, and up to 10 coins (worth between 0.01 and £5/£5 each) can be staked per line. Ultimately, players are going to find that their Desert Treasure wagers stem from a floor of just 0.01 per line per spin, up to a hefty $1,000/£1,000 per spin in total.
Desert Treasure’s best paying symbol is also the wild icon in this slot. Cobras can substitute for all other symbols save for scatters and bonuses. Scatter icons can offer scattered wins, and provide you with ten free games when three or more appear on the reels. As for the compass/map icon, it can trigger a bonus round when three to five of them appear consecutively across the reels. This offers a simple instant win bonus, where players can select an object to win a cash prize.
A Dollar Ball feature is also present as a side-game in Desert Treasure. Once activated (with a $1 side-bet), players can try and land all five winning lottery numbers to win a progressive jackpot. This feature does not form part of the main slot itself, though.
