  • WMS launches new Wizard of Oz themed slot
  • Join Dorothy on a journey to Emerald City

When it comes to Wizard of Oz themed slots there are few developers more prolific than WMS. It’s fair to say that the casino games producer has a penchant for all things tin man, dorothy and wonderful wizards, and it’s new slot is no exception to that.

The Wizard of Oz Emerald City is, in fact, the fifth ‘Wizard’ game to come from WMS and visually and in terms of gameplay it is more than a match for its predecessors. In short – and as you’d expect – there’s a mystical journey on off that takes players down the yellow brick road with Dorothy, Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Lion.

What’s different about this one?

On the surface, the answer to the above question is ‘not that much’. There is, after all, only so much mileage one can get from a single theme. But look closer and there’s plenty of subtle additions and features in The Wizard of Oz Emerald City that make the game a good proposition for players.

Aesthetically, the game is as bright and fun as the original film, which is a good place to start. The action takes place in Emerald City, which is the capital city of the fictional land of Oz and lies at the end of the famous yellow brick road (after a journey through munchkin country).

I digress. Symbols in the game follow traditional formatting, in that there are the usual playing card symbols, but there’s also a range of themed symbols too. For example, expect to meet the Wizard, Toto the dog, the mayor and the gatekeeper, Dorothy and a symbol that shows all of Dorothy’s travel buddies.

The Wild symbol is the Emerald City symbol and there’s a jackpot symbol too. The latter can reward up to 250 times the player’s original stake.

Gameplay and more details

The Wizard of Oz Emerald City is a five reel slot with 243 ways to win, the game’s maximum bet is £200 making it a good proposition for high rollers. The game can also be played across a number of desktop and mobile devices too.

Aside the base game, which offers some good wins, there are a fair few bonus features that are worth writing home about. Take the Glinda the Good Witch feature, which is triggered randomly and consists of bubbles appearing on the reels. In short, it offers enhanced opportunities to win.

Glinda also offers free spins as well in the free spins bonus feature, and there is an Emerald City Picking Bonus feature too, which gives some very big prizes.

It’s fair to say that The Wizard of Oz Emerald City is a game that maxes out the chances to win. A decent base game combined with some good bonus features mean that it’s a welcome addition to WMS’ ‘wizard’ stable. The developer provides it’s titles to a number of online casinos, such as Casumo Casino and Videoslots Casino.
