- Games from a range of developers feature
The nominations for the EGR Operator Awards 2017 Game of the Year have been revealed – billed as the ‘Oscars of the e-gaming sector’.
There are a total of 13 games on the list, each one by a different provider.
The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 26, at Grosvenor House in London, with over 800 industry professionals from a variety of backgrounds in attendance.
Game of the Year is just one of 30 awards set to be handed out on the night; it aims to recognize the studio or operator that has produced the game that’s had the biggest impact in 2017. Here are the contenders:
Age of the Gods – God of Storms (Playtech)
This five-reel, 25-payline slot is inspired by ancient Greek mythology, with various mythical gods as its symbols. It has all sorts of features, from a bonus game and a progressive jackpot, to free spins and an autoplay feature.
See more about the game on our special game page.
Dream Catcher (Evolution Gaming)
The hugely popular Dream Catcher is a 24-hour game show that you can play along with at home for the chance to win real money. Featuring a super-sized vertical wheel, the game offers live casino gaming for those who aren’t necessarily into table games.
Jurassic World (Microgaming)
Inspired by the blockbuster movie, Jurassic World has been a huge hit for Microgaming, attracting record-breaking numbers of players for the developer.
The slot has a number of randomly triggered events and three free spins rounds, not to mention wild and scatter symbols, a jackpot size of 3,000 coins and 243 payline – something of a Microgaming trademark.
Microgaming supplies a huge amount of online casinos, so it’s almost take your pick, but 32Red is one place to start.
Queen of Gold (Pragmatic Play)
Themed after ancient Egypt and perhaps its most famous queen, Cleopatra, this five-reel, 25-payline slot has an RTP of 96.5% and a jackpot of 200 coins.
Not an uncommon theme for a slot, to say the least, but this has obviously been chosen as a stand-out game.
Its features include free spins, multipliers, an autoplay option and both wild and scatter symbols.
Red Riding Hood (NetEnt)
Inspired by the well known fairy tale, Red Riding Hood became NetEnt’s most played game ever during the first 45 days after its release.

NetEnt supplies a vast array of online casinos – too many to list here. But we’ve checked and Powerspins Casino has this one live now.
Sakura Fortune (Quickspin)
Quickspin’s most successful slot release in 2017, Sakura Fortune is a five-reel, 40-payline slot themed after a Japanese princess who fights numerous evil emperors. This slot debuted Quickspin’s Achievements Engine, which creates in-game tasks for players to complete so they can earn tokens and access the game feature.

Time is Money (Realistic Games)
This slot by Realistic Games features many clocks, watches and timepieces throughout and has a quirky sort of steampunk feel to it.
There are five reels and 20 paylines altogether, with players able to win a maximum jackpot prize of 250x. It fast became one of Realistic Games’ most successful slots thanks to its attractive design and game features.

Red Tiger Gaming’s most successful release of 2017 is Totem Lightning, a slot themed after all things Native American.
Its RTP is 95.5% and some of its features include multipliers, a wild symbol and an autoplay option. Land at least three bonus symbols on the reels and you’ll stand the chance to win up to 1000x your original stake.

Viking Runecraft (Play’n Go)
Play’n Go’s most successful slot to date, Viking Runecraft features an abundance of rune symbols and figures from Norse mythology.
It has a 7×7 grid and one payline, along with numerous features including multipliers, wild and scatter symbols, free spins and an autoplay option. Its RTP is 96.4% and it has both a dropping feature and a level system – which adds a bit more video game-like depth to the classic slot set-up.
Play’n Go supply quite a few casinos, but you can try Unibet – one of our reviewed online sites.
Vikings Go Berserk (Yggdrasil Gaming))
Another viking-themed slot, Vikings Go Berserk is an enhanced version of the Vikings Go Wild slot; it combines the core mechanics of the original game, while offering more advanced gameplay and some exciting new features.
Its RTP is 96.1% and the maximum jackpot you can win by helping the vikings defeat the sirens is 500,000.
