Even money bets are often sought out by players at casinos, since they offer the biggest chance of making a profit from the original stake.
There are quite a few to be found around the various games you’ll find at the average online casino, too.
Essentially, an even money bet pays at 1-1 – so if you bet a dollar, you double your money to $2 – simple.
The casino has to take its profit after all, so while the wagers will return double the money when won, the odds of actually winning are usually marginally less than 50%. Here’s our guide on where to find the best even money wagers in casinos.
Perhaps the most obvious, betting on 1-18, 19-36, black, red, even or odd at roulette are all even money wagers which will pay back double the money. However, the presence of the ‘0’ on the table means that the player will not win the bet 50% of the time, with the house having an edge of 2.7%.
On a roulette wheel with a 00 in addition, the house edge increases to over 5% – so never play double zero roulette if you can help it.
If you’re lucky enough to encounter a roulette table using the ‘en prison’ rule, however, then you can get a lower house edge still. This rule ensures that any bets are kept in play if the ball lands on a 0, with the stake being returned if they win on the next spin.
While clearly the house still takes its profit (1.35% house edge), with this rule it’s much closer to a true even money bet.
A great online casino for roulette is Genting, which also lets you play a range of roulette games, even live streaming games from one of its UK casinos.

Craps is notable for having, for the most part, a very low house edge on many of its bets, which pay at even money.
After making a point, players are given the opportunity to make an odds bet – that the point will be rolled again before a seven is rolled and the turn ended..
This pays out 2-1 on a 4 or 10, 3-2 on a 5 or 9, and 6-5 on 6 or 8. This bet has no house edge, making it pretty much the best value in the casino.
Most casinos will have a limit on how high your wager on an odds bet can be after your pass or don’t pass bet. But often, these limits are extremely lenient, allowing you to make large bets with no edge to the house.
Craps is a game, by virtue of the dice rolls, that hasn’t translated as well to online casinos as something like blackjack.

Betting on a tie will give a higher payout, but the house edge is drastically higher on this – in fact, it’s one of the worst bets you’ll find in the casino!
Baccarat is a hugely popular game with high rollers and VIPs because of the low house edge, and the chance to double your wager with near-even odds. So a whale dumping $100,000 on a banker bet has a near 50/50 chance of walking off with $200,000.
If you want to jump in right now, Betfair and 888 Casinos have a cracking selection of baccarat games.

Blackjack offers 1 to 1 payouts on hands too.
Beat the banker in the race to 21 to double your money – simple as that. Not only that, but blackjack has, like a lot of table games, one of the best house edges going.
It does vary depending on how the game is set up, the number of decks, rules surrounding splitting but typically you will suffer a house edge of around 1% if you play with a basic blackjack strategy.
So that requires a bit of knowledge and concentration.
Also, you want a table that pays a natural blackjack at 3 to 2, not 6 to 5, which can stick another percentage point on the house edge.
There are many top casinos for blackjack, including ComeOn! and bgo Casino. These also offer live dealer games, which gives players the chance to interact with the dealer as they make their even money bets.
