  • $100 million project will replace Quil Ceda Creek casino
  • New casino will be ready in late 2018 or early 2019

The Tulalip Tribes have announced a new $100 million replacement for the Quil Ceda Creek Casino, and intend to break ground on the new casino resortlater this year.

The casino, which has already become known as QCC2, will be 110,000-square-foot facility across the street from an existing casino at 6410 33rd Ave.

The new building will feature a range of new entertainment options, a 1200-stall garage with fast-ramp access and a spacious casino floor.

Speaking about the project, the chairwoman of the Tulalip Tribes, Marie Zackuse, said that it would be a complement to the existing Tulalip Resort Casino, which is situated three miles to the north and attracts people from across the West:

“It’s time for a new one. We’re going to keep it as the locals’ casino and cater to what they like. It will be more entertainment and more food venues, but keeping that feel for the locals.”Marie Zackuse

Indirect benefits

QCC2 will be significantly smaller than the 192,000-square-foot Tulalip Resort Casino, and will be built on a 15 acre site currently occupied by an old Arby’s and the Tulalip Court and police department.

Both the tribal courts and police building will be moved to the former Hewlett-Packard building, which will be extensively remodelled.

The Mayor of Marysville, Jon Nehring said that he was aware of the plans to replace Quil Ceda Creek Casino, and although the city receives no direct revenue from the project, he emphasised that it does benefit indirectly from secondary visits by land-based casino customers.

Although many details are not yet finalised, it is believed that QCC2 will offer a range of restaurant options and a state-of-the-art smoke filtration system.

The Tulalip Tribes will also be hiring new staff for the casino, adding to their existing 3,700 work force.
