Slots based on cartoons are hardly a novelty. They’ve been around ever since graphic capabilities of video slots caught up, allowing developers to bring our favorite animated characters onto the reels. Two slots we’ll be pitching one against the other today, though, really take the cake – you just can’t go wrong with the hilarious Flintstones or elegant and witty Pink Panther.
Both of these slots are Playtech creations, but which is one ultimately better for the player?
Graphics & audio 4.5/5
Although the show has gone a bit out of style nowadays, this legendary animated series was first aired back in 1960, focusing on two families living their everyday lives set in the Stone Age period. Playtech’s The Flintstones slot brings the original music from the show, which will have you dancing in your chair and bring about some nice memories.
There are also all the familiar characters, including Fred and Wilma Flintstone, Barney and Betty Rubble, purple Dino (wild symbol) as well as several recognizable items from the show, like the huge dinosaur stake, stone phone, and the stone ball and pins serving as bonus symbols.
Set on a backdrop of the original cartoon’s setup of the Flintstones’ warm and friendly neighbourhood, The Flintstones really delivers in this category.
In-game features 5/5
The Flintstones slot features a 5×4 grid and the amazing 1,024 ways to win, instantly creating a big potential. Apart from this, the slot is rich in various features. Landing three stone house symbols on the three middle reels will trigger the free spins bonus games. Players get to choose between three different modes:
- Gazo free games: 12 free spins with symbols randomly turned into wilds
- Wilma free games: 5 free spins with all the wilds collected for the final spin
- Dino free games: Dino looks for and dig out bones on the reels, increasing the multiplier
On top of this, there is also the Bedrock Bowling Bonus, triggered by three bonus symbols on the reels. You get to compete for cash prizes multiplied by the number of pins you get to knock down on each strike.
Finally, there is the Rocky Ride feature, where Fred and Barney will randomly appear adding mystery symbols and multipliers to the reels. All in all, The Flintstones slot is rich in features and there is always something going on, so we could hardly ask for more from a game.

The Flintstones features the RTP of 95.45%, which is a bit on the lower side when compared to other slots out there. Of course, this is generally true for Playtech slots, which seem to come with a slightly lower RTP, but it isn’t a reason to pass on this game.
Winning potential 4.5/5
Wild Dino is the highest paying symbol and it pays 1,000 coins or 25 times the total stake. However, with the wild covering two positions on the reels when it lands in its entirety and bonus features that add extra wilds, The Flintstones certainly has a potential to pay big. It is probably not possible to get all 1,024 ways of wilds, but even half of that would be a huge win.
Overall value 4.5/5
The Flintstone slot really has it all. There is the background story you can’t fail to love, original graphics and audio, and heaps of features combined with a big winning potential. If the game had just a slightly higher RTP it would probably be a straight five, but even with this minor glitch, it is still an awesome slot.
Graphics & audio 4/5
A fictional animated character devised in 1964, Pink Panther quickly won the hearts of the viewers all around the world with his mischief and lean elegance. Playtech took it upon themselves to bring the character to life on the reels as well with their Pink Panther slot.
The game features the original music from the series, especially during the intro sequence. After that, short snippets of music are played while reels are spinning, while slot remains silent for the rest of the time, which is a shame.
Pink Panther stands on the left side of the slot, leaning against the reels populated with familiar characters. There is inspector Jacques Clouseau, the Little Man, and items such as the bucket of pink paint, a bomb, a magnifier, etc.
Although the slot looks nice, it feels like the developers could add just a bit more of that Pink Panther spirit to really make the game stand out.
In-game features 4.5/5
Pink Panther features a 5×4 setup and 40 paylines. The game has a number of features but they are triggered randomly for the most part. Pink Panther slot features include:
- Pink Pow – between two and six random symbols turned into wilds
- Crack the Pink Code – open safes to win free games, multipliers and expanding wilds on Reel 3
- The Color Pink bonus – The Little Man and the Pink Panther pain the numbers on the wall. The total sum of pink numbers is multiplied by the total bet to award a win
- Wheel of Pink – The Pink Panther spins two wheels, accumulating cash prizes
- Pink Trail bonus – The Inspector follows Pink Panther’s footsteps winning cash prizes as he moves along
Apart from these features, there are also two progressive jackpots players can win, and the jackpot game is triggered randomly. You have 12 doors and need to open them. If you find five Pink Panthers, you’ll get the Major jackpot, while four Inspectors will award the Minor jackpot.
All in all, the Pink Panther is rich in features, although some players may not like the fact these are triggered randomly, so you never know when they’re coming. All features are interesting and have some decent rewards, so the excitement is always there.

Once again, a Playtech game, Pink Panther slot has the RTP of 95.39%, which is a bit lower than The Flintstones. Considering this is a progressive slot, however, the RTP isn’t all that bad. You have to give up a little bit for that shot at a big money.
Winning potential 4.5/5
Like with all progressive jackpot slot, Pink Panther has a potential to pay really big even if you’re playing at the lowest denomination. Of course, progressive jackpots don’t come around every day, but if you stick to it, there is a decent chance you might land one of them.
Overall value 4/5
All in all, Pink Panther is a nice slot, especially if you’re a fan of the show. It feels like designers could have done a slightly better job with the overall feel of the game and some might not like the whole random features idea, but the game is worth a few spins.
Our verdict & where to play
In this battle, The Flintstones comes out the winner. The game has a better overall feel to it and bonus features are more exciting. Pink Panther feels a bit static and the experience is simply not as rewarding. Of course, if you’re into progressive jackpots, Pink Panther might actually be a good choice, because accumulated amounts usually aren’t huge so you might have a shot.
