- Details revealed of Hollywood casino’s upcoming expansion
- Casino floor set to double in size
- Doors to open in time for 2020 Super Bowl
The Seminole Tribe of Florida has announced details of its intention to expand the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood.
The popular land-based casino will undergo a $1.5 billion makeover which will include a much larger casino floor area, over 800 new hotel rooms, and significant expansion of retail and entertainment spaces.
Work on the ambitious project will begin later this year and the development is expected to be finished by late 2019.
Venue prepares for Super Bowl
In 2020, Los Angeles’ Hard Rock Stadium will host the year’s largest sporting event, the Super Bowl. The annual football tournament is expected to attract thousands of spectators from out of state, as well as many more tourists who want to soak up the carnival atmosphere.
To prepare for the big event, Hard Rock owners the Seminole Tribe are putting some serious investment into their flagship Hollywood gaming venue.
New guitar-shaped tower to form centerpiece of venue
Perhaps the most remarkable detail revealed so far lies in the architectural designs. In order to better fit the Hard Rock brand, the developers have planned an incredible 450-foot tower in the heart of the resort.
The glass-fronted tower will be shaped like a classic guitar, with sleek curves and a slender neck, and the casino resort will house over 800 new hotel rooms and luxury suites. It will overlook the redesigned pool and the surrounding lake.
Major expansion of casinofloor
When the billion-dollar development is finished, the casino itself will have doubled in size. The plans revealed by tribal partners include more than 3,000 slots almost 200 table games and an awesome 18,000 square feet of card room space.
The additional casino facilities are expected to increase potential earnings for the venue, especially during 2020’s Super Bowl event, so some of the outlay can be recovered.
Other notable changes include a $100 million concert venue, designed to seat 7,000 patrons, and an impressive expansion of the site’s meeting facilities and retail options. New bars and restaurants, and an updated pool deck, complete the extravagant makeover.
The freshly redesigned Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is expected to be ready for its relaunch by late 2019. It is not yet clear how construction will impact on casino operations.
