A statement from Scientific Games on Friday confirmed completion of the deal, though it did not disclose the purchase value – which remains subject to earnings in 2018. Shares for NYX Gaming will be delisted as of January 10, and the company will be assimilated into Scientific Games’ digital services division.
“Today, Scientific Games moves forward as a leading digital provider of sports betting, iGaming and iLottery technologies, platforms, content, products and services,” CEO and President Kevin Sheehan announced.
“As we look to 2018, we are truly excited by the opportunities that this acquisition presents to us.”
Deal includes OpenBet and Open Gaming System
In acquiring NYX, Scientific Games gains exclusive access to all of the group’s software tools and gaming platforms. This includes the popular Open Gaming System, a B2B solution for casino operators.
The system links operators with a huge selection of content from some of the biggest gaming providers – and now it will be used to distribute the Scientific Games catalog in addition to existing online casino content.
The deal also gives Scientific Games control of the OpenBet sportsbook platform. The popular betting supplier serves European, North American and Australian gaming markets, with partners that include William Hill, Paddy Power Betfair, Ladbrokes and SkyBet.
In purchasing OpenBet’s parent company NYX, SG Games has the opportunity to branch out in new markets, including sports betting and lottery games.
With the possibility of sports betting being legalized in New Jersey, and the floodgates opening across the US, the future potential is seen as huge.
Two top developers combine talents
The deal will take the form of a merger, with NYX CEO Matt Davey joining Scientific Games as their Group President of Digital Gaming. The digital services division of SGC will take on the assets of NYX, and SG Interactive games will be incorporated into the Open Gaming System platform. This is good news for online gamers, who will get access to a wider range of content through their favorite service providers.
SG Interactive, the gaming development subsidiary of Scientific Games, is behind some of the leading slots and casino games on the market. From the wildly popular Rainbow Riches series to recent release Sword of Destiny and classic video slot Wizard of Oz, the company has launched some of the biggest gaming titles available itself, or through its brands including Barcrest and WMS Gaming.
SGC will also pick up NYX’s slot catalog, which includes Samurai Split, Lightning Gems and the quirky Wild Dodo.
