- Resorts World Catskills hopes to take on 600 new recruits from the dealer school
- They will be trained in table games, including poker, blackjack, roulette and baccarat
Earlier this year, it was reported that Resorts World Catskills – a leading casino operator around the world – would be opening a number of new dealer’s schools across the United States with the intention of hiring professional new recruits into the casino industry.
This week saw the opening of the Resorts World Catskills dealer school, situated in Newburgh, NY. On September 7, 2017, the ribbon was cut at the specialist casino educational facility, which will offer prospective dealers training in core casino games.
Dealer training for free
The new school is set to offer any individuals who wish to get involved in the casino dealer world a host of table game lessons, all of which will be entirely free of charge.
The school’s founders expect considerable interest in the classes, with some reports suggesting that up to 600 new dealers could be created by Catskills.
After undergoing 20 hours of casino training per week for upwards of six weeks – which includes practicing blackjack, poker, roulette, and baccarat layouts – the attendees should be well equipped to hit the casino.
When their training at the Resorts World Catskills school is complete, students are encouraged to apply for employment at the casino – part of a premium destination being developed that’s worth around $1.2 billion.
Using their newly acquired skills, they will audition and interview table game dealer positions.
Those present at the school’s opening ceremony included Steven M. Neuhaus, Orange County Executive, Kevin Hines, Orange County Legislator, and Charles Degliomini, the executive vice president of Empire Resorts.
Describing the opening of the Resorts World dealer school as “monumental,” Neuhaus has reportedly noted that many in the region eagerly anticipate the opening of Catskills’ actual Resorts World casino.
Noting Orange County’s considerable investment in the school – including the creation of jobs – Neuhaus hopes that many of the region’s residents will be interested in pursuing education there.
The new casino
The Resorts World Catskills casino itself, when it opens its doors in 2018, will boast 18 storeys, 100,000 square feet worth of gaming space, more than 2,000 slot machines, a dedicated poker room, a number of gaming salons, and more than 100 gaming tables.
In addition, the resort will also be home to a 332-suite accommodation space, including seven villas, 12 penthouse rooms, and eight garden suites, as well as a spa, gym, and two pools.
