How a PokerStars player made $1 million from a $10 buy-in

  • PokerStars create a second millionaire in one week
  • ’meks2410’ becomes the first player to turn $10 into $1 million

PokerStars set out to create ten millionaires by June, and they seem to be inching closer to this goal with each passing day.

Yet another player can now lay claim to millionaire status, but how?

It was only a couple of days ago that a player was able to hit a $1 million jackpot playing a $100 tournament, and now another player has done the same but investing only $10 instead.

The player in question goes under the alias ‘meks2410,’ and he experienced a rare stroke of luck when he deposited his $10 and the prize reel ended up stopping on the $1 million jackpot amount.

Second in one week

PokerStars seems to be picking up the pace just in time to meet their goal of making ten millionaires during their PokerStars Makes Millionaires promo. It was earlier this week that ‘Check^On123’ became a fresh-made millionaire, and now ‘meks2410’ is following in his footsteps.

To claim this life-changing amount, he had to go against two other players, both fully intent on claiming the win for themselves. But, as there can only be one winner in (most) poker tournaments, ‘yreg’ and ‘gambarinasai’ had to be happy with the title of a lucky loser.

Being a loser in the $1 million isn’t as bad as it may sound to someone not familiar with this particular promotion, as both players got consolation prizes of $100,000. Given the fact this is an amount far above the first place in a majority of online tournaments, it’s pretty safe to assume these two won’t have too much to complain about after winning six figures for only a few minutes of play.

More millionaires coming shortly thanks to…

It is PokerStars’ Spin & Go which has yielded yet another member of the millionaire’s club, although this time the $10 buy-in level is unbelievably small. However, some more seven-figure winners will be announced shortly, although they will have to work somewhat harder for this amount.

On May 21, the $10,300 Main Event of this year’s Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) will be kicking off.

The winner in that one is certain to walk away with at least a million, as well as the winner in the $1,050 SCOOP Phase 2 taking place the same day.

As for the Spin & Go’s, this was the third millionaire this year, and 16th millionaire in total to be rewarded by this innovative format that successfully combines elements of poker and lottery to create the maximum excitement for the players.

Small stakes to big returns

Another player recently who has turned a tiny stake into a big return is an as yet unidentified player from London, who trousered $2.2 million, hitting two progressive jackpots at a spin of just $25 each time.

She was playing popular slot game, ‘Megajackpots Star Lanterns’ at bgo Casino, when the money was scooped.
