- Suite of the latest table games will be added to NetEnt’s Spanish portfolio
- Games including Roulette, Blackjack and more will now be available to players
Online casino game giant, NetEnt has announced its plans to launch its leading selection of online table games into the rapidly growing Spanish betting sector. However, there appears to be a more personal side to the move than simply business – this year marks the two-year anniversary of the relationship between NetEnt and the regulated Spanish casino market.
As recently reported by Casinopedia, Spain’s new online gambling legislation kicked into action in mid-2015, awarding licenses to a handful of hopeful operators. And furthermore, it has been growing at a considerable rate ever since.
Working alongside companies such as bet365, PokerStars, and bwin, Sweden-based NetEnt has so far thrived in Spain’s growing online casino market. This new package of table games will solidify that position by rolling out NetEnt’s leading games including blackjack and roulette to the company’s Spanish desktop and mobile users.
Conquering the continent’s casino scene
Enrico Bradamante, managing director of NetEnt, has noted that Spain is seeing a positive increase in its online gaming market, and that it has a promising potential for further growth. But Spain isn’t the only European country NetEnt has its sights on; less than a week ago, the company proclaimed its entry into the Serbian online casino market, too.
It’s not only the game developers that benefit from this kind of expansion into Europe’s online betting market. Players across the entire continent are now able to access a huge range of casino games, such as online poker, bingo, roulette, and online slot games, among many others, and all on their portable devices.
Spanish market growth
Spain’s online casino market has been steadily flourishing since new laws were introduced that let players legally gamble online. Originally, only poker, sports betting, and table games were allowed to be legally played but, in 2014, laws were extended to allow the coverage of slot games and exchange betting, which many online casino operators soon took advantage of.
Using Italy’s success as a firm benchmark, Spain was hopeful that the legal introduction of online slot games would boost the country’s market, and they have thus far been proved right.
The stats behind the slots
In fact, according to the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego, online slot games brought in a revenue of $1.3 million (€1.2 million) in the second quarter of 2015 alone. In the third quarter of that year, this skyrocketed by 292.75% to reach $6.59 million (€5.85 million).
This amount represented the Spanish online casino market’s second biggest share of revenue, second only to that of roulette.
Online slot game revenue continues to grow for Spain, with figures suggesting that in the first quarter of 2017, slots earned a massive $14.6 million (€13 million).
With online table games such as roulette contributing around $36.6 million (€32.53 million) to Spain’s casino market in the first few months of 2017 alone, it would appear that NetEnt’s decision may prove a fruitful one.
