Mr Green: a first time visit

  • A very impressive and original design.
  • Plenty of slot games, including exclusive, original titles.

I was immediately impressed upon arriving at Mr Green Casino, which starts with a full-page splash screen showing green hot air balloons in a peaceful sky.

Below, there’s a fantastic castle, a penguin (why not?) and Mr Green himself, the Mr Green Casino site mascot who has a touch of the Riddler about him.

I appreciate sites where some effort has gone into the design. I clicked on ‘I’m ready to begin’ and went inside!

Getting Around

The registration process is simple enough here, with a few quick forms. You don’t have to deposit immediately, but I was a little concerned when I found that I couldn’t deposit without taking a first deposit bonus. Every time I went to the depositing area, I had a choice of bonuses, but no choice to take nothing. Perhaps I’m missing something, but even so, this setup needs to be improved.

Otherwise, the site is great to navigate. The artwork is brilliant, using photos of Mr Green himself and the occasional art from the slots. It’s a very sleek and solid theme, with lots of light-hearted flavour text. Most importantly, the design is more interesting than most sites, which is a guaranteed way to make people stick around. It worked on me!

The site leads you directly to the game selection. You have a large ad panel, then a row of categories and a search box to narrow down the games. More filtering options would be handy, but I found the games I wanted easily enough. The site also has a sportsbook section, which is very easy to avoid if it isn’t your cup of tea. I found that area easier to follow than most, with a little tutorial when you first go in. On static pages like the promotions area, I was pleased to find original artwork and very clear terms and conditions, which is great for new online casino players. Last but not least, check out the site footer to see an array of awards that this site has won. I think that gives new players some confidence.

I went over to the promotions area to find out what the site was so keen on giving me. I have to admit that the welcome bonus is pretty nice, a 100% match on your first deposit of £20 or more, up to £100. That in itself is quite standard, but you also get 100 free spins after you’ve spent that £20, then 5 free spins a day for 20 days. Up front would be nicer, but that’s a tempting prospect. This has a pretty standard wagering requirement of 35x. Fans of live casino have an alternative offer; if you lose your first deposit, you get a 50% ‘second chance’ bonus. This also has the 5 free spins a day for 20 days.

The site’s general offers are impressive, too. I was happy to see some promotions that anyone can take part in, such as the Cash Drop. This involved £3,000 in prizes being randomly dropped into the accounts of anyone playing Jack Hammer. There was also a quest-based task at the time of writing, something I quite like as it gives you an excuse to try a few different titles. Getting free spins on Vikings Go Wild, four wins in a row on Golden Fish Tank and collecting 5 shards in Holmes and the Stolen Stones enters you into a draw with 50 prizes. There are also some sportsbook offers and occasional big-budget competitions here.

Games and Software

All the slots and table games can be found in the casino section, so this site is easy enough to browse. There’s an ad panel which tells you the latest offers, but also shows the latest new slots. I was glad to see that Mr Green has brand-new titles as well as a few classics. There’s a fair mixture of providers and hundreds of individual games. I found NetEnt (Fairytale Legends), Microgaming (Forbidden Throne), Williams Interactive (Wizard of Oz), Quickspin (Sakura Fortune), Play ‘N Go (Viking Runecraft), Nyx (Batman) and more. While some of the top Playtech slots are not here, you will find a smattering of their smaller titles, such as Great Blue.

What really stands out here are the original games. Not many sites at all can boast their own games, which you can’t find anywhere else. Thanks to NetEnt, Mr Green has unique games starring the green-suited mascot character, such as Mr Green Moonlight and The Marvellous Mr Green. There are even some special live dealer rooms. So many casino sites offer the same selection, so this really gives Mr Green an edge.
The live dealer games are by Evolution and Extreme, so you have a variety. I also found some good standard roulette and blackjack games, but no craps or baccarat (outside of live dealer options). Considering that there’s also sportsbook, I think Mr Green is doing a great job for variety. The games load nice and fast, appearing in a large space with matching background art. The overlay includes help and deposit options, or you can go full-screen.

I took a minute to check out the mobile casino options, which the site thankfully explains on a special page. I was pleased to see apps for both Android and Apple devices, as well as a strong mobile website. Mr Green has won awards for mobile casino and sure enough, I found a very useful and useable mobile site, with special promotions to boot.

I found a deposit link on the top navigation bar, with a straightforward form to complete. Withdrawals are just as easy, but they are limited to one free withdrawal in seven days. The processing time seems around the standard here, 3-5 working days for cards.

Mr Green accepts several payment times, including Neteller, Skrill, PaySafeCard, PayPal and credit and debit cards. However, I could only choose PayPal and cards for my first deposit. There’s no clear reason why and this was a bit of a disappointment, from an otherwise user-friendly site.

I was searched around for a while, but found that Mr Green doesn’t openly advertise VIP rewards. The site does have a VIP lounge, it’s just invite-only. The rewards sound good, such as a dedicated account manager, invites to special events, faster withdrawals and special bonuses, but it would be nice to see this made more transparent.
I did find a loyalty points system, so everyday users can earn points as they play and then later get a little credit back.

I quite like the support section here, which is entirely contained on a sliding panel. This is good for checking something out without leaving the page you’re on. The panel has sections for FAQ, contacts and live chat. The FAQ area is pretty thorough and I was glad to see a search function.

The site can be reached by phone, live chat and email, all open 24/7. I found the team helpful and friendly, so overall, I’m impressed with this site of the site.

Mr Green is a very strong site, which has the appeal of an original design and strong theme. Not only does this make a site more memorable, but I feel it instantly makes it more interesting and shows that the site developers wanted to make something of their own- not just churn out a template.

I think the accessible promotions and broad set of games will please most players, but watch out for potentially fiddly depositing.
The original games are a huge selling point for me, as it gives me a clear reason to come back here, over other sites.
