- According to UKGC study, mobile casino popularity on the rise with players
- Evolution Gaming, which offers live mobile casino games, sees considerable rise in revenue
Evolution Gaming, provider of innovative live dealer casino games based in Latvia, has reported a near doubling of its profits in 2017’s second quarter. What is particularly interesting about that is that, for the first time, mobile devices accounted for over half (52%) of the quarter’s revenue.
There has been a marked increase in the popularity of mobile casinos and mobile-based casino games of late, a trend that appears to be reinforced in the latest figures from Evolution. For example, in the latest UKCG report it was noted that the use of mobile devices to access online casinos had risen, with some 43% of online bettors using such devices.
Similarly, the recent announcement that, from August 2017 Google will start accepting gambling apps in its play store was a significant and notable boon for the mobile casino industry.
This week Evolution revealed that revenue has risen, year on year, by 56%, reaching €42.3 million in the second quarter of 2017 – up from €27 million in that quarter in 2016. Also, earnings rose by 81% up to €19.2 million, with profits rising from €7.6 million to €14.6 million.
Martin Carlesund, chief executive officer of Evolution Gaming, has credited the monumental growth of his company to its growing customer base. He also says that Evolution is a “continuously improving and increasingly efficient organization.”
In that second quarter of the year, the “growing popularity” of live-action casino products was all too clear to see, with Evolution Gaming’s business-to-business (B2B) clients reporting 1-billion rise in bet spots from the same quarter last year.
While land-based casinos represent a fair amount of Evolution’s business it is mobile growth that is most noticeable, with Carlesund himself pointing out the figures. Evolution provides live casino games – including many classic table games and more – that are fully optimised for mobile casino play and designed to provide a lifelike experience for players.
More to come
With the upswing in mobile casino use showing no sign of abating, Carlesund has promised further growth for the company in line with that trends, noting that the remainder of this year will be “an intense period in terms of expansion of new environments.”
In fact, since the end of the year’s second quarter in June, Evolution Gaming have announced the upcoming launch of another “live dealer production studio,” which will be based in Tbilisi, Georgia. It will join others in Malta and Latvia. Good news, it appears, for the ever-growing fanbase for mobile casinos.
