LeoVegas prepares to storm Danish sports betting market

  • Great timing for betting startup as football season opens
  • Strong demand for sports betting from Danish consumers

Authorities in Denmark have approved a gambling license for Swedish online casino LeoVegas, marking a major shift in the Danish betting market and giving players in that nation better access to sports betting and casino games.

LeoVegas is hoping to take a chunk out of the Danish sports betting market following the approval of its gambling license.

The gambling company, which was named 2017’s Online Casino Operator of the Year at the International Gaming Awards, has partnered with user experience specialists Kambi to bring sports betting to the market as soon as possible – just in time for the highlight of Denmark’s sporting calendar.

New season in the Danish Superliga

Top flight football returns to Denmark this week after the break, with the Danish Superliga commencing from Saturday. The approval of LeoVegas’ gambling license for sports betting has therefore come at just the right time, and the up-and-coming company is perfectly placed to take advantage of the vast open market. “Our goal is to offer Denmark’s fastest and most engaging sports gaming experience,” said CEO Gustaf Hagman.

It’s not just football fans who will benefit, either. The package offered under the new betting license will include 40 different games and activities, and the company claims to offer over 100,000 different ways to bet.

Sports betting is sure to be a money-spinner – but the Danish market has also shown an appetite for slot games, table games and online poker.

LeoVegas plans to offer a range of different gaming options, including live casino services.

Growth for LeoVegas as door opens for other operators

LeoVegas might be the first company since state-owned Danske Spil to get full gambling operator status within the nation, but it is likely to have paved the way for others to enter.

LeoVegas has got a big incentive – targeting the state’s 62% share of the market.

As if to cement its sports betting credentials, LeoVegas has also recently signed multi-million shirt sponsorship deals with second tier English soccer sides Brentford and Norwich City.
