- Cut the crap from craps and starting taking home some winnings with our tips
- From high risk to low risk having the right strategy is key
Craps is one of the most commonly played casino games around the world, largely thanks to its minimal equipment and relative ease to jump straight in.
However, mastering craps is not so easy, with a myriad of options available on the table that make for some quite complicated game play. But fear not, as there are some great tips and hints that can give you the best chance of winning one of casino’s most entertaining, action packed games.
Understand the table rules
An obvious place to start, but one that many have failed to really work on and subsequently walked away with empty pockets right at the first hurdle.
Understanding the rules of Craps is essential if you really want to rake in some big wins, but just remember that every table – online or in a casino – has a different set of rules and limits. It’s therefore vital you know exactly what you’re doing before commencing play.
Understanding and prioritising the safest bets is the first fundamental thing you should do when it comes to setting out your craps strategy.
Like all casino games, the house will always harbour the edge, but the safest bets are the ones that give the casino the smallest possible edge.
For example, bets on the pass line pay even money and the house has just a 1.41% advantage very much like red or black in roulette. Although this is a conservative way to play, it is the best way to get started if you are fairly new to the game as it will minimise your losses whilst still giving you the opportunity to win and maintain a solid bankroll.
Take advantage of odds bets
The best thing about odds bets is that the house has zero edge on these bets. However, in order to place an odds bet, it must be done so on top of another bet.
These types of bets often have a maximum bet amount that is a certain multiple of your pass or don’t pass bet e.g. x2, x3, x4 and so on. By taking the maximum odds bet every time you make either a pass or don’t pass bet, your chance of winning increases and you significantly lower the house edge on the total bet you have made. Clever stuff!
Bankroll determines the pattern of play
The first point in this list is designed for the player with the smaller bankroll whereas for those with more cash to splash, there are ways to win big if you are happy to accept to big losses along the way.
High-risk thrill bets include Boxcars (12) which pays a whopping 30/1 and Aces (2) which pays the same. However, if your bankroll is limited, then you should consider limiting the amount you press on the lay or place odds as a single bad roll (which will happen) could see you effectively pushed out of the game.
It may sound obvious but the best way to stay on top is to walk away when you’re a winner. Although often hard, when a hot streak comes to a sudden crashing halt the single best thing you can do is cash your chips and take a little downtime.
Craps is no different in this respect to any other casino game and – when starting out – when you have reached your strategy winnings amount, pocket the profit and take some time away from the table.
Craps is high intensity action, fun and very easy to get stuck in to, so follow these above tips and go get some well-deserved winnings under belt. Good Luck!
