- New Hood slot has a huge amount of features to explore
- Special ‘gamble’ feature in bonus rounds ads excitement
Novomatic’s new Hood slot is not about Red Riding, but Robin, the Prince of Thieves and the legend of Nottingham that has inspired so many TV shows and films.
So will this slot take from the house and give to the player? Actually, there is plenty to explore in this swashbuckling slot, not least the modifiers that can add great bonuses, a wheel of fortune style bonus game, a free spins feature which sees a pot of money built up which can be gambled into a true King’s ransome.
In total there are four bonus features.
There is also a cinematic quality to this slot, and it is clear Novomatic have pulled out all the stops to make this look visually appealing.
All of the favorite characters are there too from Maid Marian to Little John and Will Scarlett.
A wealth of features
The reams of game information that come with the slot tell the story – this is a game with a lot of detail to explore.
In the base game alone the Treasure Chest bonus, which is a symbol that appears on reel five, can unlock a random prize of between 60 and 450 coins.
Then there’s the potential for stacked wilds on reels 2 and 4, which are Maid Marian and Fryer Tuck. If they appear fully, then a coin win of 1,000 is up for grabs.
The base game alone has a selection of modifiers from an extra scatter, a free spin and a target practice which swaps symbols out for winning combinations.
The Robin’s Riches scatter symbol landing on reels 1,3 and 5, unlocks the wheel of fortune game which has a range bonuses including free spins as well as unlocking further bonus games.
The free spins feature doesn’t have any particular modifiers to boost wins, but is just one of many bonus options.
The Rich Pickings Feature is the real test of nerve. A room of barrels is revealed and the players gets to pick one.
They can get a cash prize, an arrow or a castle guard. If they win the cash prize, that is placed into a pot, with an ‘escape pot’ of a lower value also filled.
They then have the option of either taking the money, or picking another barrel. They risk the pot by doing so.
If they get a castle guard on their second pick, they get the escape pot consolation prize, but forfeit the full amount. An arrow simply gives them another chance, but with even less safe barrels to choose from.
It’s really up to the player and if they’re feeling lucky.
There’s so many features that it’s impossible to explain them all in one section!
The final feature, again unlockable from the wheel of fortune, is the King’s Ransome and Super King’s Ransome bonus feature.
There the player is sent to a room of money bags which plays out in a Deal or No Deal scenario. As money bags disappear which each have varying amounts, the game makes the player an offer based on what bags might be left.
The player has the option of unveiling more money bags, but also risks losing bags of larger worth as they are exploded away.
Again, the element of gambling is down to the player.
OUR VERDICT AND WHERE TO PLAY
The best thing about this game appears to be the sheer amount of stuff going on. The graphics look slick, and the gameplay is smooth.
This is probably the perfect example of a slot that should be played on demo mode first, just to get a feel for all the features.
This slot has the feel that a lot of time and money has gone in to producing it, so it is well worth a look to see if it suits.
