- Manchester is a new addition to the series boasting its own mini-event
- PokerStars enables players unable to attend still compete through their online satellites
Genting UK, known for its land-based and online casino, and PokerStars have unveiled the 2018 Poker Series schedule and it promises to be another season of ram-packed tournaments and high intensity action.
The eagerly anticipated poker series is growing at a rapid rate and will feature six main events as opposed to the five of last year and twelve mini-events to really get the poker juices flowing.
Birmingham get promoted
The newly announced sixth event will be hosted at the flagship Genting International Casino at Resorts World in Birmingham and sees the casino essentially gain a promotion after hosting one of the mini-events.
However, the changes do not end there as players from the North West are set to benefit thanks to the inclusion of Salford, Greater Manchester as hosts of one of the twelve mini-events.
This is a timely move for Genting with Poker Operations Manager for Genting UK Kevin Proctor stating: “We also wanted to pinpoint a venue in the Manchester area that had the potential to host our popular Mini Events. The team at Salford have worked extremely hard in 2017 to make bringing an event to the venue a possibility, so we look forward to doing just that in 2018.”
Genting UK is also known for its online casino offerings boasting an array of live casino games as well as numerous slot games, but their continued successful collaboration with PokerStars is a testament to their desire to continue providing the public with what they want.
A nice touch is that the series partnership allows players who are unable to attend in person, still enter the events through PokerStars online satellites.
After commenting on the joy at bringing the event to Manchester, Mr Proctor went on to highlight the importance the joint venture with PokerStars is by saying: “Working with PokerStars has provided players an opportunity to qualify online when they are not able to access the live casino satellites.
“An extensive schedule of qualifiers is even more important now, in times when there is less disposable income for leisure activities.
“Players can qualify for a fraction of the cost of a direct buy-in.”
Reward for Loyalty
The tournaments popularity is set to continue to grow but it is the freeze on the entry-fee for 2018 that is another boast particularly to those who have entered in previous years.
The price-cap means the fee stays at £400 + £40 for the main events and £200 + £20 for the mini-events.
The prize pools also remain high a guaranteed £100,000 up for grabs in the main events and £35,000 for the mini-events but with more tournaments on the books, it means more chances to win.
