- The casino is reportedly set to include numerous slot machines, table games and more
- It is expected to begin gaming operations in mid-2019
More recently, one of the group’s affiliates is reported to have shed a more detailed insight into the venture. Earlier this week, Suncity Group Holdings put to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange its confirmed plans to take a 34% stake in one brand new casino resort in Hoi An South, which is in the Quang Nam province of Vietnam.
These papers lay out the seven phases of the resort’s construction and note that the first – which the project is currently in – is projected to be finalized in the middle of 2019. It began in April last year.
The finer details
There will also reportedly be around 1,000 hotel rooms, including a mass-market hotel with 313 rooms, a hotel with 136 suites, a 74-room hotel villa, 30 additional separate villas for rental, and a “condo-hotel” comprising 236 rooms. This is required for the resort to begin its operation.
Given Suncity’s position as a junket operator it is perhaps of little surprise that the resort casino is expected to favour higher-end gamblers.
And Suncity will not be solely responsible for the casino’s running. In fact, it will mainly oversee its catering elements, providing “consultancy and management services.” Meanwhile, Sun Travel Ltd – a subsidiary of Suncity Group – will work to promote the casino to any and all clients.
Casino market in Vietnam
This news comes as Vietnam prepares to embark on its three-year casino prohibition relaxation project. The country will finally allow local residents to gamble in its casinos.
And while it’s yet fully clear whether the Vietnamese population will be allowed to gamble in the new casino, it’s reasonable to assume the resort will be success; with a central location, it’s said by insiders to be “more accessible” than other casinos.
