EFL side Preston North End announce sponsorship agreement with a betting firm Tempobet

  • The deal means that the Tempobet logo will feature on the front of the first team’s shirts as well as extensive advertising around Preston’s Deep Dale Stadium
  • Tempobet also have a deal with fellow championship side Burton Albion

English Championship side Preston North End have become the latest football club to announce a main shirt sponsorship deal with an online casino or sports betting operator, as leading online casino Tempobet agree deal for the 2017/18 season.

The deal also allows Tempobet extensive advertising space around Preston’s home ground: Deepdale, which has a capacity of just over 23,000.

Why Preston North End?

Preston enjoyed a relatively successful campaign in the Championship last season after finishing comfortably mid-table in eleventh place, eleven points clear of the drop zone.

Despite losing their manager Simon Grayson to Sunderland at the end of the previous campaign, Preston are expected to secure safety once more and as one of the EFL’s founding members, the club’s history appeals to the sports betting firm as they aim to establish themselves in the UK market.

That, and the TV deal that Championship clubs are enjoying through Sky Sports which allows their brand to be showcased around the world.

A Match Made in Heaven

There have been a sudden influx of betting firms announcing sponsorship deals in recent years with Preston’s deal with Tempobet following on from Aston Villa’s agreement with Unibet which was announced earlier this month.

The exposure that can be generated for the client and additional income for the club is a no brainer with both parties delighted with the outcome.

Tempobet’s CEO Tim Peters has this to say on his companies deal with Preston:
“English football is a crucial part of our business and given PNE’s historic standing in the game, it’s a perfect fit. We’re excited about growing our relationship over the next 12 months.”

The club are equally delighted with the partnership after a club’s spokesperson was quoted as saying:
“We are delighted to welcome Tempobet as our principle sponsor for the 2017/18 season and look forward to working with them to achieve their sponsorship ambitions.”

The Championship is becoming the new sponsors playground

The average attendance in the Championship last season was 20,332 making England’s second tier one of the best attended in Europe.

The plethora of giant clubs in the Championship such as Leeds United, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest is making the division appeal more and more to investors looking to maximise their exposure without being held to ransom over Premier League prices.


Once again the deal appears to be a win-win situation and one that everyone can get on-board with.
Tempobet have increased their visibility and will now feature heavily in the Championship with Preston North End and Burton Albion.
