Knowledge is power and power is money, or so they say. One of the easiest and most fun ways to add to your gambling knowledge is by picking up a good book that is full of insight.
Choosing a gambling book that is both entertaining and full of useful facts can be difficult, but you are in luck, because we are here with our list of seven gambling books you should open today.
1. Blackbelt in Blackjack by Arnold Snyder
This book is the bible for blackjack players who want to win big. Snyder runs through systems, tips and mistakes and he does it in a way that even the most novice of players can understand.
This book does for blackjack what Doyle Brunson did for poker, by supplying systems that even out the playing field between you and your competitors.
2. The Video Poker Answer Book by John Grochowski
As far as gambling mediums go, one would imagine that video poker is at the bottom of the list when it comes to possible analysis. However, Grochowski’s excellent book shows that this is not the case.
He discusses how to spot a machine that is ready to pay and the various algorithms that are used. It really is an excellent read.
3. Beating the Casinos at Their Own Game by Peter Svoboda
This book attempts to give you a fool’s guide at coming out on top against the casino. Of course, it is mostly rubbish strategy, but there are a few nuggets of gold from Svoboda and it is well worth a read.
However, don’t consider this fun book a gospel for how you should behave in a casino.
4. Telling Lies and Getting Paid by Michael Konik
Konik’s book is a fascinating study into the world of high stakes gambling. It’s a book divided into two parts – the first of which detail some brilliant stories of gambling success and the second details Konik’s own attempts at defeating the poker game. A great read.
5. Burning the Tables in Las Vegas by Ian Andersen
Burning the Tables in Las Vegas is all about how to take on the casinos in Vegas and walk away with health, happiness and a profit.
Anderson has made a name for himself as one of the best gambling writers out there and for good reason too, as the man is a genius.
6. The Man with the $100,000 Breasts: And Other Gambling Stories by Michael Konik
Konik makes his second appearance on our list, with this hilarious anthology of some of the best gambling stories ever told.
It’s more journalism than gambling technique, but it is a wonderful read nonetheless and the perfect companion for a long flight.
7. Fortune’s Formula: The Untold Story of the Scientific Betting System That Beat the Casinos and Wall Street by William Poundstone
Here is a book for all you math nerds out there. It details the story of two geniuses who took on the casinos using only their intelligence and walked away with an absolute fortune.
