- Werder Bremen has won the German Bundesliga four times, and now has Betway on board
- Both parties are positive about the advantages that the mutual partnership will bring
Leading online casino and sports betting operator, Betway has signed a unique three-year deal that will see the firm become the official (betting) partner of Werder Bremen, a German football team that plays its soccer in the Bundesliga.
Betway in the Bundesliga
The Bundesliga is Germany’s professional soccer league, with the Bundesliga 2 – or the second division – being the next league down from the top flight.
Betway already partners with teams Union Berlin, St. Pauli, Dynamo Dresden, and Eintracht Braunschweig, all of whom currently participate in Bundesliga 2. However, the new deal that the operator has just signed with Werder Bremen marks the first time since its founding in 2005 that it has teamed up with a club in Germany’s top football division.
And it would appear that the company has chosen well – Werder Bremen has won the Bundesliga four times, meaning they’re a well-recognised team for Betway to be associated with. Similarly, Betway boasts more than two million customers globally, so Werder Bremen stands to gain, as well.
Betway has said that the agreement will also be its way of showing dedication to its personal brand identity; the partnership with Werder Bremen is similar to that of its 2015 agreement with West Ham United – a soccer team in the United Kingdom.
Last year, the betting firm also signed off on an agreement to join forces with RSC Anderlecht and the Croky Cup, in Belgium. All of these endeavors are part of Betway’s mission of growing its brand identity by reaching out to clubs and teams across the globe.
Inside the deal
Betway’s sales director, Christian Rauhut, has called Betway one of Europe’s leading Internet-based bookmakers and has expressed that Werder Bremen are “thrilled” to be joining them. “It emphasizes the power of our brand that Betway have selected Werder Bremen as a partner, as they take the next step in the highest German league. We are really excited about the co-operation,” he says.
Likewise, Anthony Werkman – the marketing and operations director for Betway – has stated that the company is ‘really happy’ with the partnership. “The Bundesliga is at the forefront of world football and we’re delighted to be a part of it.
“With a number of football sponsorships in place, the season ahead is a very exciting one for us. We’re very much looking forward to increasing our involvement in German football, especially with a top club like Bremen as they head into the 2017/18 campaign.”
